List of common sales questions

Note that this is a general list of questions asked to us by a prospect. It will also include some counter questions to understand the pain points a bit better. When a lead focuses on specific features, always reply with a “Why would you ask that? Must be something important” to get a more in-depth understanding.

PS: Also understand the buyer persona. See what background they’re coming from? Moving away from another ERP, or looking for an integrated solution moving away from a bunch of software like: an accounting software (Tally/Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks), Excel, CRM, etc.

Accounting

1. Can ERPNext handle my country’s taxation out of the box?

ERPNext has a flexible and generic tax setup. You can add your tax accounts, setup tax templates and default rates easily. This is all configuration!

However, return reports may need to be designed. We have done the same for India and UAE so it’s now available for all customers out of the box. i

2. Do you have a bank integration/auto-reconciliation?

Yes and no. ERPNext can connect with some American and European banks via Plaid. You can also configure templates to import bank statements and reconcile (semi-automatic).

3. Can I file my company taxes via this?

ERPNext has specific regional reports available. Eg: GST India, VAT return for UAE, E-invoicing feature and reports for Italy. We can build country-specific statutory reports or provide methods to extract the date out from ERPNext.

4. If I make a payment here, will that reflect directly in my bank account?

No. ERPNext only maintains accounting entries. Though we have integrations with payment gateways that allow you to accept payments and automate accounting entries

5. How can I see how much I owe/how much is due to me?

We have all standard accounting reports available. Refer Accounts Payable/Receivable for this one.

6. Does ERPNext support the US GAAP/IFRS standard?

ERPNext follows standard accounting practices worldwide and is flexible enough to meet regular accounting activities for all major regions.

7. How do I customize/Set up my own/existing chart of accounts in the system?

Customizing the chart of accounts is very easy and can be done with a few clicks. You can also import your existing chart via a template.

8.Can/How do I import my previous accounting data in the system?

To start quickly, we suggest just entering the final balances in the system for analysis purpose. If you still need to import all accounting data, you can do so using Data Import!

Inventory

1. Manually scanning through multiple Excel sheets leads to lower productivity and lost time. How can ERPNext help me with this?

Think of ERPNext is an integrated suite of products. The inventory, accounting, Sales, Purchase modules are very tightly integrated. Every action in a module updates the certain reports and transactions which ensures transparent and accurate data across all modules.

2. Does the ERP come with Aisle-Row-Bin structure?

The warehouse in ERPNext is a tree structure. This allows you to create multi-level locations in the system and customize the structure to suite your needs. The warehouse can represent cities, locations, floor, room, etc.

3. Can the system automatically raise an order or notify us when there’s an inventory shortage?

You can have the system trigger a notification or raise a requisition/indent/request for purchase when materials fall below a defined level, the system can trigger a purchase request

4. Is Barcoding supported?

Yes! ERPNext supports barcode based inventory management.

5. Can I print/generate the barcode labels as well?

Absolutely.

6. Does ERPNext support shipment tracking?

Yes! You can find some supported 3PL integrations integrations here.
