How GETPOS implementation helps multi-outlet retail businesses streamline operations

About

P•TAL

P•TAL carries forward India's only UNESCO-recognized metalworking craft tradition, rooted in the Thathera community of Jandiala Guru, Punjab, a heritage that dates back roughly 200 years. Through its work, the brand directly supports the livelihoods of over 110 artisan families across Jandiala Guru (Amritsar) and Jagadhri (Haryana), keeping this centuries-old craft alive for a new generation.

Help people to use our tools

We believe our tools like ERPNext can help organizations reduce waste and complexity. Frappe + ERPNext has the potential to be a “full stack” replacement for not only ERP (SAP/Oracle) but also the entire enterprise stack (Java/.NET). With this scope, we should help organizations by providing products and services to help them manage their technology platforms.

Why ERPNext over SAP B1 / Oracle

Challenges

As P•TAL's retail operations grew across multiple sales channels, offline stores, ecommerce platforms and manufacturing workflows, the business needed greater coordination and visibility across its operations.

  • Product and Item Management: P•TAL manages a diverse product catalogue with different item types, categories, SKUs, barcodes, weights and pricing structures. The business needed a centralized item master to maintain consistent product information.
  • Inventory Visibility: Inventory moved through purchasing, manufacturing, finished-goods storage, dispatch and fulfillment. P•TAL needed better visibility into raw materials, WIP, finished goods, warehouse movements and stock transfers.
  • Multi-Channel Sales: P•TAL needed to manage orders from multiple channels, including EasyEcom, Amazon, Myntra, Shopify, B2C, B2B and influencer sales, while maintaining consistent customer, product, payment and fulfillment information.
  • Sales and Fulfillment Control: Order processing needed to be connected with inventory availability and fulfillment status. The business required controls to prevent transactions from progressing when sufficient inventory was not available.
  • Procurement Management: P•TAL needed greater control over purchase orders, purchase receipts, suppliers and incoming inventory while connecting procurement with accounting.
  • Manufacturing and Stock Movement: The business needed structured workflows for BOMs, work orders, raw-material consumption, WIP movement and finished-goods transfers.
  • Overall Operational Control: P•TAL needed a connected system that could bring sales, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, fulfillment and accounting processes together and provide greater visibility into business transactions.

Benefits

  • GETPOS was implemented as a connected retail operations platform for P•TAL, bringing key sales, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, fulfillment and accounting workflows into a unified system.
  • Centralized Product Management: A structured Item Master provides a central source for item codes, item groups, UOM, HSN/SAC, dimensions, weights, barcode information, product classification and country-wise pricing.
  • Barcode and QR Tracking: Barcode and QR workflows support product identification, scanning, printing, GRN-based QR generation, warehouse transfers and manufacturing-related tracking.
  • Inventory and Warehouse Management: GETPOS supports warehouse management, stock transfers, finished-goods movement, raw-material inventory, WIP inventory and stock availability validation.
  • Multi-Channel Sales Management: Sales workflows connect channels such as EasyEcom, Amazon India and Shopify with the central operational system while tracking sales channel, customer type, payment status, invoice references, shipping and delivery information.
  • Controlled Order Fulfillment: Fulfillment rules connect sales orders with inventory availability. Unfulfilled or returned orders are prevented from unnecessarily entering downstream processes.
  • Purchase and Procurement Management: Purchase orders, purchase receipts, supplier management, purchase invoices, stock receiving and purchase accounting are managed through structured workflows.
  • Manufacturing Management: BOMs, raw-material mapping, work orders, partial production, raw-material issues, WIP movement and finished-goods transfers are incorporated into the operational flow.
  • Multi-Country Accounting: Separate operational and accounting structures support India and USA operations, including company structures, currencies, Chart of Accounts, GST/LUT configuration, branches, departments and cost centers.
  • Payment Automation: Prepaid order payment entries can be automatically linked with sales orders, while COD transactions follow a controlled process.

Impact

Successful on-time ERPNext go-live

Increased sales order to cash

Increased inventory turnover

The implementation gave P•TAL a more structured and connected approach to managing its growing retail operations.

Key operational impacts included:

  • Greater inventory visibility across warehouses and production stages
  • Controlled sales and fulfillment workflows
  • Improved purchase management
  • Better manufacturing tracking, stronger barcode and QR-based traceability
  • Reduced repetitive manual intervention, and improved visibility across sales, inventory, purchasing and accounting processes

The implementation also created a scalable technology foundation to support P•TAL as its product catalogue, sales channels and operational complexity continue to grow.

GETPOS’s infrastructure is very simple and easy to use, and we realized that it could take our retail expansion to the next level without adding complexity to the entire process. We recently opened our store in Hyderabad, where the nestorbird was extremely supportive throughout the process, from executing the GETPOS setup to going live. Even now, they continue to be very responsive and supportive. Whenever we reach out in the group, someone is always happy to help resolve our concerns. I would be happy to recommend GETPOS to anyone in the retail industry.
