Ashamed of only owning 2 holiday homes, Boom founder decides to increase annual subscription fees
“People don’t realize how expensive it is to be rich these days,” says Jeff White.
In a recent interview with Bit, Boom founder Jeffrey White turned beetroot red when the conversation turned to his holiday homes. “They’re pretty modest. They only have one pool each and only one of them has a vineyard,” said Jeremy, looking down at his shoes. “But I guess that’s just the kind of guy I am. I don’t want to be defined by my material possessions. I’ve even flown coach once. I could just double the subscription fees for Boom and get myself the kind of holiday home I want, but I wouldn’t do that. I’m only going to charge 50% more.”
White also promised that the changes he had in mind for the app would revolutionize the video calling industry. “Initially, I thought we could try to make the calls consume less data so the poors could use the app without exhausting their data plans, but that didn’t sound very exciting, so I decided to introduce filters instead.”
Users get to choose from a host of options like face slimming, eye enlargement and complexion enhancement. There’s even an option to apply makeup and change your outfit virtually, so you wouldn’t have to freak out the next time someone asks you to turn on your video when you’re working from home. “At the end of the day, that’s what people want—to look hot even when they’re really not,” said White.
