Open Ended Questions

Previously, when creating a quiz, Course Creators could add either Multiple-Choice Questions or questions where users' responses were compared against some possibilities. Many of you requested another type, which is open-ended questions.

So here it is. Course Creators can now add Open-ended questions to their quizzes. Such quizzes must have all questions of open-ended type.

When students attempt such a quiz, they see a text editor where they can answer the questions in as detail as they want. They can also add images and videos to support their answers. Once the student submits the quiz, they are informed that they will have to wait till their submission gets graded.

For each quiz now, creators can also see the submission list from the portal. Clicking on the submission of an open ended question, they get to see the question along with the students response. They can then grade the submission by giving the student marks for each question. The total and the percentage gets calculated accordingly.

Quiz Timer

This is another most requested feature. Course Creators can now add a duration for the quiz. If no duration is set the quiz will have no time limit. However, if a duration is set, students will see a timer when attempting the quiz.

The timer starts as soon as the student starts the quiz and will go on till the quiz ends. If a student submits the quiz before the duration ends, the timer is stopped. But if the student fails to submit the quiz and the time runs out, the quiz gets submitted automatically. In this case, whatever progress the student had made until that point gets considered.
