It's been exactly three months since I walked back through the doors of Frappe; this time with a deeper purpose and clearer vision than before. People often look puzzled when I tell them I've returned to a previous workplace. "Why would you go back?" they ask, eyebrows raised in curiosity. Their confusion is understandable; in today's fast-paced tech world, moving forward usually means moving on.
But some journeys are meant to come full circle.
The path that led me back
During my first stint at Frappe, I was deep in the enterprise relationship trenches. We were riding a wave of traction, chasing after big enterprise customers because that seemed like the logical path to growth. Those relationships taught me something crucial about Frappe's soul, something I couldn't fully articulate until I had stepped away.
While other organizations live and die by the mantra of "Revenue, Revenue, Revenue," Frappe marches to a different drumbeat:
- Open Source as a philosophy, not just a business model
- Products that genuinely solve problems
- A team that redefines excellence
- Partners who share our vision
The revelation came too late for my first innings. By the time I truly understood our product DNA, life circumstances pulled me in another direction. Meanwhile, Frappe was making the courageous decision to step away from services entirely in 2022, a move that must have seemed counterintuitive to outsiders but proved to be visionary.
The reunion that changed everything
While many have asked about why I returned, fewer know the story of how it actually happened.
It began with a reunion, Rushabh and I sitting across from each other after four years apart. There's something powerful about reconnecting after time has created enough distance for perspective. I shared stories from my professional journey during those four years, but conversation inevitably circled back to Frappe the company that had somehow never fully left my heart.
We talked about how things had transformed since my departure, the new directions, the evolved vision. What started as one meeting turned into several, including thoughtful conversations with Neha. With each discussion, it became increasingly clear to both of us that our paths were meant to converge again.
This time would be different though. Rushabh envisioned a new role for me one that aligned with Frappe's current needs but also with where I wanted to grow. As this new position took shape before my eyes, something resonated deeply. This wasn't just a job opportunity; it was a calling back to purpose. The excitement I felt wasn't just about rejoining, it was about returning with renewed clarity and intention.
Coming home to a transformed Frappe
Walking back into Frappe felt both familiar and entirely new. The company I returned to had evolved in remarkable ways:
Our business model transformed from a traditional SaaS approach with erpnext.com to Frappe Cloud a platform that hosts an entire ecosystem of Frappe apps.
Where we once had a single product in ERPNext, we now offer a suite of business applications that work in beautiful harmony.
But the most profound change was in our people. In those early growth years, we prioritized hard work, sometimes at the expense of finding those rare individuals who were both brilliant and aligned with our values. Now, I look around at faces that radiate both intelligence and purpose. These aren't just colleagues they're craftspeople.
Gold mining in the open source world
Every morning when I wake up, a thought strikes me: We're sitting on a gold mine. I share this with everyone I meet partners, customers, team members. Not a single day passes without something remarkable emerging from our ecosystem.
My heart swelled with pride at Frappeverse Africa my first major event since returning home to Frappe. Witnessing the vibrant community there, I could feel the pulse of something extraordinary taking shape. We're not just developing software; we're cultivating ecosystems where both Frappe and our partners can build sustainable, meaningful businesses. This isn't happening in isolation either similar communities are blossoming across different corners of the world, with more Frappeverse gatherings already taking form on the horizon.

In my current role managing partner engagement and relationships, I see the breadth of our impact. We've built strong networks across the Middle East, Africa, APAC, Europe, and the US. But there are still corners of the world waiting to discover what we've built, and my mission is to find partners from SMBs to enterprise-ready organizations who will help us reach them.
What inspires me most is how we approach challenges. Most companies follow rigid processes that leave little room for improvement. At Frappe, we learn, unlearn, and relearn until we achieve excellence. We build from first principles, questioning assumptions that others take for granted.
The rare breed
The team I've returned to is something special a rare breed in today's professional landscape. Nobody here thinks, works, or behaves like a mediocre contributor. They are self-motivated, focused, and driven by excellence rather than just outcomes.
I believe that's the secret to our success: a small, lean team with the audacity to believe we can make a dent in the universe. We're not chasing quarterly targets or playing corporate politics. We're building something meaningful, something that will last.
As I look to the future with new products on the horizon and partnerships forming across the globe I feel that same excitement that brought me back to Frappe amplifying each day. This second innings isn't about redemption or nostalgia.
It's about coming home to where I belong and helping build something extraordinary.
And we're just getting started.
