About
Zerodha, India's largest online trading platform, handles operations at an immense scale, managing databases with billions of records and processing millions of transactions daily. Under the leadership of Kailash Nadh, the company’s CTO, Zerodha has integrated ERPNext across its internal operations. Committed to using only Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), Zerodha found ERPNext to be the perfect solution to streamline their processes and support their rapid growth.
Help people to use our tools
We believe our tools like ERPNext can help organizations reduce waste and complexity. Frappe + ERPNext has the potential to be a “full stack” replacement for not only ERP (SAP/Oracle) but also the entire enterprise stack (Java/.NET). With this scope, we should help organizations by providing products and services to help them manage their technology platforms.
Why ERPNext over SAP B1 / Oracle

Challenges
Zerodha faced significant scalability challenges due to the vast scale of its operations. The enormous volume of data and transactions led to bottlenecks that required continuous optimization and improvement. Earlier they tried building their own ERP because no other proprietary ERP could work as expected. But as you can guess, building an ERP is hard. That is when they found ERPNext; ERPnext fits the bill perfectly. In addition to the massive scale of operation, they also wanted to solve for better asset management and improve their HR and Payroll processes.
Benefits
ERPNext provided Zerodha with several key advantages:
Additionally, ERPNext had everything they needed in terms of features, and anything else was easy to build using the Frappe Framework. We eventually adopted ERPNext for Asset Management, HR, and Payroll too.
Impact
Successful on-time ERPNext go-live
Increased sales order to cash
Increased inventory turnover
ERPNext has become integral to Zerodha’s operations, embedded in everything they do apart from their trading platforms. The platform’s continuous evolution, combined with Zerodha’s ability to contribute back to the open-source community, has allowed for ongoing improvements that benefit both Zerodha and the broader ERPNext ecosystem. Kailash Nadh emphasizes the importance of contributing back to FOSS projects, noting that Zerodha has been actively supporting the development of a significant new module, further enhancing the ERPNext platform for all users. With all these benefits, Zerodha now manages 6M + customers, with 4.5 lakh crore worth of assets and easily manages 25-30Mn records daily
