Frappe Cloud rents the server from the cloud provider you choose and manages the lifecycle (viz. setup, upgrades, monitoring, recovery, etc). On top of this server, you can host multiple sites, create separate environments, and scale resources as your needs grow.
Unified Server or Separate Servers
Unified servers are simpler and more cost-effective for small to medium workloads. Separate servers offer better isolation and headroom for heavier workloads.
Shared instances or Dedicated instances
Dedicated instances give you predictable performance with reserved resources. Shared instances lower costs by sharing infrastructure at the provider level, with some performance variability.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose the right plan?
An ideal hosting configuration is a function of your infrastructure preferences, workload criticality, and risk appetite. Its is also a performance to cost trade-off. Here are some rules of thumb to help you navigate it. If availability and durability guarantees are important, choose AWS or OCI. If costs matter more than guarantees, choose Hetzner. Unified servers suffice for most workloads. If you are willing to pay the premium for App - Database isolation (which helps in case of load spikes on either side), Separate servers are ideal. Shared instances may introduce noisy neighbour problems, and are suitable only for non-critical or experimental workloads. For most production workloads, Dedicated instances are recommended. Having said that, there is no right answer in most cases. Start with the best possible estimate and upgrade to larger plans later as your requirements grow. (Note: Plan downgrades may be subject to constraints offered by the cloud provider.)
When should one choose “Shared” vs “Dedicated” instances?
What is Product Warranty?
Product Warranty is support from Frappe engineers for fixing bugs in Frappe Apps (e.g. ERPNext, Frappe HR, Frappe Framework) and Frappe Cloud. You can raise tickets from the support portal and our engineers will respond in a stipulated response time. Note that this does not include functional support.
When should one choose “Unified server” plans vs “Separate servers” plans?

Are all Frappe Cloud features available on every provider?
Not always. Some infrastructure features depend on provider APIs and capabilities. The dashboard and docs will indicate what’s supported per provider and instance type.

What benefits will I get with Dedicated Hosting?
With dedicated hosting, you can create unlimited sites and benches for no extra cost. So, go ahead and create any number of benches as separate environments or as isolated containers to deploy your sites. We offer Frappe Product Warranty for any 5 sites that you opt-in under our support plans. Dedicated hosting is easy to scale. If there are days when you need to scale your infra because of the daily compute limit, you can easily do so by opting for a higher plan in just a few clicks. You can configure pager alerts to get notified about resource consumption. This helps you plan and act on exhausting limits proactively rather than reactively. Additionally, you get all the other features to install, upgrade, backup, monitor, and develop Frappe apps.
