Regular hiring process involves the typical process of shortlisting CVs, a few rounds of interviews and done. In one day and few interactions both parties are expected to explore the fit and commit the future months and years to each other. There should definitely be a better way.
This year Frappe has decided to do something different. We’re announcing a 3-month Apprenticeship Program for multiple business roles, including technical sales, partnerships, product marketing and support. The goal of this program is to offer an opportunity to work with Frappe on live projects for 3 months, experience the Frappe culture and commit to working full-time subject to fitment and performance.

If you’ve been following Frappe you probably already know that we do things differently. I’m not just talking about the pick your own pay and work policy, but also the democratic working style, radically first principles approach to solving problems and an individualistic work culture. This culture can get challenging to adjust to, especially for people who have past work experience and expect structure and clearly defined career path. I’m not saying we don’t have all these things, we have some of them. But we also believe in individual excellence. We believe people can have better ideas than any of us and are smart enough to take responsibility for them. It may not be a perfect culture, but when it works, it works beautifully. We’ve seen many individuals thrive beyond what we could have imagined. We believe our unusual culture has played an important role in this success.
The Business Apprenticeship Program will be held from October to December 2026. In September, we expect to have expanded into an additional office, giving us enough space to host a batch of 20 apprentices. While some full-time roles may be remote, the apprenticeship itself will be conducted in person at Frappe’s Mumbai office.
The apprenticeship program is open for anyone from pre-graduate interns, freshers to people with up to 3 years of experience. The stipend will be ₹50,000/month for graduates and ₹80,000/month for postgraduates (e.g. MBA or equivalent). At the end of the three-month program, high-performing apprentices may be offered a full-time role at Frappe based on their performance and mutual fit.
Individuals who have demonstrated consistent academic performance and/or built a track record of exceptional work. We may give some preference to candidates with an MBA and B.Tech/B.E, but the degree itself will not be the deciding factor
The apprenticeship program is open for individuals undergoing graduation, graduated freshers or people with up to 3 years of previous work experience.
Needless to say, there is a preference for those who put extra thought to their job application form. For roles such as product marketing, it might help if you share links of your past work, personal blog or portfolio.
Post Apprenticeship, the full-time roles that Frappe is hiring for includes:
Partnerships Manager
Product Marketer
Support Agent
The full-time salaries will be picked by individuals under the Pick your Own Pay (PYOP) policy. That means we would be open to understanding your salary expectations once you get selected. As PYOP can be confusing for new hires, you can expect a salary range for full-time roles between ₹12L - ₹35L / year.
If you're entrepreneurial, can take responsibility without being asked to, are ambitious and want to build a career building Frappe into world's largest open-source technology company, then Frappe might be a great place to work.
It is equally important to share who are the kind of people that don't thrive in Frappe.
Freedom is one of the core values at Frappe. Individuals are free to pick their projects, write their annual goals and get measured on their own promises. People pick their own projects, there is minimal or no monitoring of leaves or expenses. However, everyone is not used to it. At times people forget that, with freedom comes responsibility. A responsibility to excel, contribute, keep your promise and raise the bar. While Freedom works beautifully to unleash the best potential in some individuals in Frappe, the same freedom can become a liability and difficult to handle for those who’re not used to it. With freedom, your success and your failure is your responsibility.
Most of us are used to play games that someone else has designed for us. These qualities are probably why some individuals excel early in their careers, in exams or jobs. But in this process, they lose their agency and stop taking responsibility for our own lives and careers, and rely on clearly defined checklist to succeed.
We’re looking for individuals who understand this reality, and want to break through. We seek to create an environment where individual growth is not capped by company’s career ladder, academic degrees or which college they went to. People who demonstrate ownership, exercise agency and deliver on their commitments grow disproportionately in Frappe. But if you want a absolute clarity in your career path, you may not get that in Frappe.
Change is the only constant here. Frappe has moved through multiple business models and adapted quickly to change. We believe at our current scale, re-inventing ourselves and continuous innovation is the only way we have a chance of building something great. But this can sometimes be difficult to adjust to. Change is always painful for everyone undergoing it. So if you’re change averse and are seeking predictability without surprises, Frappe might not be the best fit.
